About

About

My name is Jensel, like pencil with a “J”. I also go by JG.

In undergrad, I studied music technology and Spanish.

I went to community college later to learn electrical engineering tech, computer engineering tech, and soldering skills.

Over the years I have worked in several industries which range from retail to medical, entertainment to IT and engineering. Each experience has provided me with a wealth of knowledge. As someone who speaks two languages, I look forward to hearing about how I can help you with the project you are working on.

At SWTNCC, I learned about Arduino microcontrollers, coded in C++, made CAD drawings in AutoCAD and a bunch of other cool things. I really liked the labs. In 2018, I had the honor of addressing my graduating class at the FedEx Forum.

I serve on the Industrial Advisory Council for the Computer Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology. I was able to participate in the ABET Re-accreditation Process as well as make recommendations to improve classes.

You should see their engineering building. They recently made major renovations to their labs. Each student owns their own Raspberry Pi.

Take a look at how I have helped others

Sole Proprietor | January 2020 – Present

I started developing websites because they are a creative outlet that allows me to tell stories. I am sharpening my technical skills and selling services as a way to challenge myself. I am starting with a few customers so that I can learn to provide them with an excellent experience as I scale the business and sharpen my skills.

Here are some things I’m proud of:

  • Develop scalable business plans which included testing web development software, extionsion, plugins, CRM’s, HR solutions, accounting software, and automation solutions with Project Management software
  • Build Microsoft SharePoint lists and libraries to manage customer assets.
  • Utilize HTML5 and CSS to reduce the limitations of drag and drop tools.
  • Created responsive web content with Adobe Photoshop and CSS.
  • Optimized performance through validation testing procedures for responsive web pages.

Electrical Engineer | April 2018 – Present

I currently work at SHARP as an electrical engineer. I design control panels for microwave ovens. I build prototypes and test fixtures that are used all over the world. If you have never seen a microwave drawer, check them out! We are in the process of releasing some really cool ovens that are the first of their kind. Picture this: a microwave that cooks using convection, but it also slides open like a kitchen drawer… except it’s motorized… and you can control it over WiFi. We also have an oven that cooks with steam. My tests determined where we put the WiFi chip in the 1st generation of control panels. I also build power supplies, and solder tiny components that can fit on a grain of rice. I develop and perform functional tests of microcontrollers, which involves component evaluation and AC/DC power supply compliance testing. AKA engineering.

Here are some things I’m proud of:

  • Supported new product launches of IoT-connected devices, digital apps, and convection microwave drawers.
  • Lead research for implementation of IoT technology inside the first generation of control panels.
  • Developed test procedures and production instructions for the final assembly of control panels and peripherals devices like motion sensors.
  • Solved ways to reduce time on production lines by two minutes for discreet IoT connected devices.
  • Identified critical issues with the application developer through testing and error logs management.
  • Clearly communicated complex data with engineering departments in Japan, Thailand, Korea, the UK, and domestic partners.
  • Submitted official engineering documents that include high quality images, schematics, and clear instructions.
  • Learned advanced surface mount soldering and through-hole soldering techniques.
  • Recycled materials to create test fixtures for PCB manufacturers.

IT Service Desk Manager | May 2016 – January 2018

I have served as a helpdesk Managed Service Provider. The fundamental task was managing a remote team’s adherence to HIPAA and ITAR compliance without violating Service Level Agreements, but I was able to take on so much more. I handled the majority of the vendors, and I organized data to improve productivity from the helpdesk to the CEO. I remember having to switch from Kaspersky to BitDefender when they may have been colluding with Russian Intelligence. I remember the WannaCry virus too. We saw that as an opportunity to provide customers with Ransomware protection. I should tell you about how I got that job. I came in with a little experience, but once I identified the most common tickets, I started writing knowledgebase articles. This helped me communicate highly technical information in a way that high ranking business personnel could understand, and they frequently told my boss that they liked me – mostly because I kept them in the loop about how we are helping them.

Here are some things I am proud of:

  • Investigated root cause of network issues to meet HIPAA and ITAR regulatory standards.
  • When we cut the helpdesk team, I became a Windows Admin and resolved helpdesk and Level 2 tickets.
  • Trained an employee with the KnowledgeBase articles I created. More on that in a moment.
  • Piloted the transitions from business solutions like Kaseya Project Manager to ZoHo Project Manager.
  • Used available tools to boost productivity which led to the discovery new and lucrative opportunities.
  • Created SOP’s, Knowledge Base (KB) articles, and proposals to create uniformity and which improved relationships with customers.
  • Developed strategies to add anti-ransomware solutions to existing customers during the WannaCry virus attacks.
  • Led a team during the overnight transition of Kaspersky Labs to Bitdefender antivirus software due to alleged ties to the Russian government.

Creative Director | Feb. 2013 – January 2017

This was supposed to be one part of how I was going to revolutionize the music industry. Found out that this was way harder than I anticipated. This experience taught me how much I didn’t know at the time. This exposed me to electronics, project management, and a wide variety of new skills.

We provided audio-related recording and production services for individuals, businesses and events across Memphis, Mississippi, Arkansas, and North Carolina. We started with one room in Minglewood Hall, a concert venue in Midtown Memphis. One room turned into two. We grew so quickly that in the third year, we leased a corporate office with three rooms and two vocal booths.

I have been working with audio since 2007. Setting up PA systems and dressing a room for banquets and events is no problem. When I’m in the studio, I prefer ProTools. Here is where I started on Apple desktops and laptops. I even replaced some logic boards! I automated playlists for a digital radio station. I also worked as a production tech at a TV station. I have worked on stages all over Memphis, TN. I would love to tell you about some of the rock stars I have set up stages for!

Here are more things I’m proud of:

  • Built my first website! Then, I went on to design more for other customers.
  • Worked at Germantown Performing Arts Center, Mud Island Amphitheater, FedEx Forum, the Canon Center, and various other music venues.
  • Program Director for Radio Rumba, an application-based radio station headquartered in Minglewood Hall.
  • Tour Manager for Grammy-Award winning bands for Memphis in May International Festival 501(C)3.
  • Created a WordPress portfolio website for the business and other customers.
  • Managed social media accounts for the business and other content pages.
  • Generated leads and track sales for advertising, studio time, and field services.
  • Configured and updated software for the business and customers.
  • Installed recording studios and PA systems across the South East Region.
  • Worked on a pilot for Around the 901, a program that showcases local businesses around the 901.
  • Replaced the logic board on ancient Apple laptops and desktop computers. This got me into computer engineering.
  • Fixed audio equipment… or destroyed it while trying to fix it. This got me into electrical engineering!

Master Control Operator | May 2015 – January 2017

I started out as a production technician. I ran audio on a sweet SSL console, and I learned to operate the cameras on the floor during live shows. I was quickly promoted to Master Control in the engineering department. They hired five people. I was the only one without any experience, but after a little bit of training, I was put in charge of running commercials during Prime Time.

Here are some things I’m proud of:

  • Responsible for high-value assets during Prime Time.
  • Cut into programming for breaking news.
  • Responded quickly and appropriately when the building lost power.

Media Coordinator | February 2015 – Present

Every Sunday I mic the hell out of the drum set… that’s how you know it’s holy. I run an analog mixer for rehearsals and Sunday service.

Here are ways  I have served my church:

  • Sanitize microphones for the safety of our Praise Team.
  • Troubleshoot feedback loops, ground loops, and artifacts caused by unclean power.
  • Repair audio equipment like cables and snakes.
  • Create wiring configurations, instructions, and a troubleshooting guide for operating audio equipment in my absence.
  • Create a project for renovating the stage for live broadcasts.

if you will just help other people get what they want.”
